Hello all. I am a Nursery Nurse working with special needs children within a main stream school and love it. I have worked as a NN for 34 years and wouldn't change for anything. I have always crafted in some way or another since the age of 7. At present I do a bit of patchwork and quilting, jewellery making and card making.

Delicate cakes
I am still preparing craft packs for the children at the school. I have to make sure the cards are quite simple to do as some of the children have special needs. Our first craft class this session is the end of September. I decided to get them to make this delicate looking card with a cup cake in the middle and one with a cute girl on. I used my Martha Stewart border and corner punches for the centre piece. The cake is a digital download from digistampboutique. You can print them in colour or outline to colour yourself. I printed and cut out the colour version and glittered the icing and heart. We only have an hour so it gives them a chance to get two cards made. The other card has some colouring to do and will take them a little while. The papers are from Crafters Companion SWALK cd and a digital download from The Clip Art Fairy. The second card is made with SWALK papers and SWALK Stamps. I used my Martha Stewart punch and 3 Birds flowers from Crafters Companion.

Stampin' Up start to finish!!
Thought I would have a go at using my Stampin' Up rollers and some of my new Stampin' Up stamp sets. Took a few attempts to get it to roll properly, I used the Stampin' Up ruler to keep it straight. I made it in a blue theme after seeing a similar layout on the net. I may try and do this card at either my craft classes or with the children at my school craft club.

Cricut Wall Decor cartridge
Managed to win this new cart on the Ebay.com site. I have a friend from the Cricut message board who said it would be ok to send to her and she would forward it. They can be won quite cheaply as there are thousands of carts on the site. Most of them offer free postage to USA addresses. I paid $13.00 plus $4.99 shipping to USA. Think it will cost about $6 to send it to me. Works out about £16 so a good bargain.
It has some lovely images.

Beatrix Potter - Two bad mice baby card
I saw this cute sample on one of the Crafters Companion Create and Craft shows and decided to give it a go. I used my own baby embossing folder which was different from the one they used. Not used the verse writer on the CC cds before and it took me a couple of goes before it actually printed with the verse on it!!
Mini notelets - Stampin up stamps
Thought I'd use my new stamps from Stampin Up to make these mini notelets. They are 8cm square in size. I had bought 8.5cm and 7cm square envelopes a while ago, so needed to use them for something. I used my stamp positioner to get the stamp design in the right place.
I didn't do very well with the trees but practice makes perfect they say.

Help with Pop Up card project - Beatrix Potter
I was asked to help a school girl to make a pop up card for a talk at her school. I made the project up for her along with a second set of materials for her to demo at her talk. I hope she gets on ok.
I used my Crafters Companion Beatrix Potter Peter Rabbit cds again.
I cropped the scene so I could add extra grass to the bottom half of the card. I used a couple of layers of the decoupage characters for the inside.

Beatrix Potter cds
I decided to use my Crafters Companion Beatrix Potter cds for the first time today by making this project from the Peter Rabbit cd.
I changed it slightly as I didn't have enough of the pale blue card to mat and layer the decoupage topper and the gingham paper. I inked around them instead and used the only blue ribbon I had to tone in. I printed it on HP semi glossy photo paper.

Finished at last!!
I finished the nursery aprons last night after taking an evening off on Thursday. I didn't do anything on Thursday but lounge about and watch tv after getting home from work. Although the kids have only been back for 3 days it feels like several weeks. After finishing the aprons I relaxed and watched the final of Celebrity Master Chef. It was good and I agreed with the choice winner.
There will be no Fun Friday Challenge this week it will be back next week.

Sewing instead of card making!
I have been busy sewing nursery aprons for a friend of mine. She has two friends who have children going to nursery next week. I used to make lots of these for a local nursery (40 per year) they were all the same for the school. Had to give up as it got too much. I make individual aprons which are made from lovely kiddie fabrics just when asked.
I spent the other night preparing packs for my craft class next month. I still have a couple of items to prepare then I will be finished.
I was very tempted to buy the Cricut Cake machine even though I don't even make cakes very often. They made it look great on Ideal World!!!!!!
Time is running out to enter my birthday give away....... Link at top of page.......

NO WILL POWER AHHHHHHHHH!!!!
I have NO will power!! Have bought the blue cuttlebug. Why did Create and Craft still have a pick of the day at the same price for so long after the said 24 hours!!! They were just tempting me!! Will be very good and give my green one to my friend as she was going to buy the blue one for herself. This will save her a few pennies.....
Magnolia stamp and SWALK cds
Thought I'd use my Magnolia stamps today. Not used them for a while. Love the simplicity of the designs and the faces. I coloured the image with promarkers as usual. The backing papers are from Crafters Companion SWALK cds and the little 'Thinking of you' flower sentiment is from Jayne Nestorenko's 'Patchwork Polly' stamp sets. I stamped this twice and coloured over with the same blue and pink I used for the girl so it toned in perfectly. I then layered one on top of the other.

Moving Home Card!!
A day out for craft and culture!!
Today I went out to the 'Simply Create' craft sale at their Alford shop. Here are the goodies I purchased. Think I will use the red crushed velvet for Santa's suit next time I do a Santa card. The stamps are from Marianne Design 'Eline's Toddlers' dress up boy and dress up girl. These were half price, a real bargain. The sheet of gems was only £3.00 which was very reasonable for the amount in the packet.
After our Alford visit we then went to Craigievar Castle. A castle between Alford and Banchory in Aberdeenshire which I have never been to before. It was a lovely castle with a very interesting history.

SWALK Cds and stamps - So Cute!!
These SWALK cds and stamps from Crafters Companion are just great. They are so cute and will appeal to all ages. This is the second card I have made with these lovely stamps. I coloured it with promarkers. I used my nestabilities to do the topper and my scallop punch to add detail to the paper layers. I can see I will be making lots of cards using these designs.

Feeling in the pink!!
Love these dragonfly stamps. These stamps are called Flitters and Flutters and are from 'The Stampman'. The papers are from the new SWALK cd from Crafters Companion. Just got this back from my friend tonight as I was on holiday when I ordered it. I got the set of stamps and cd delivered to her so she could have a play until I came home. The flowers are also from Crafters Companion called Perfectly Pretty Petals. I printed the papers onto semi glossy photo paper which gives a nice sheen. I coloured the dragonflies with promarkers and put a little glitter on them for a bit of sparkle.
First Christmas card!!!
Can't believe I have made my first Christmas card......I bought these stamps in our new local Hobbycraft store and thought they were so cute. I took some stamps on holiday with me so I could prepare some images for later on in the year. I couldn't resist this cheery little fellow looking at me and had to make him into a card. I coloured him with promarkers. The backing paper was from Red Hot Bed Triple Treasure Christmas CDs. I used my nestabilities to cut him out. Hope you like him.

Cricut Freshly Picked - Gnome shaped card video
Cricut Design Studio Videos - Welding words and Shaped cards
Here are a couple more Cricut Design Studio tutorials. This time I have designed a globe shaped card using the welding, x axis feature, rotation and flip keys. The other video is showing you how to weld a word together and then make a welded shadow to go behind. You can also add shapes to your word by using the same principle.
You can view all my youtube video tutorials here.

Baby Boy Card
I seem to be making lots of baby cards lately. They always look so sweet. I used a stamp I have had for a long time and used several times in the past as it is such a nice stamp. I bought it from Stamp Addicts. I coloured the image with promarkers. The polkadot paper is from Clipart Fairy. I finished off with a polkadot ribbon and a metal baby word embellishment. The last time I made a card with this stamp I used plain blue buttons on the wheels.
Beginners video to Cricut Design Studio
This video is especially for my friend Lynda Chapman so she can get designing on her Cricut Design Studio!!!! Hugs Lynda!!
This is a tutorial on how to get you started with your design studio. I haven't covered everything, just the basics to get you started. I will do some more advanced tutorials shortly when I get time. Hope this helps to get you all started.
If you have a Gypsy the principles are the same although some features are better but some are only available on DS.

Fun Friday Challenge - 6th August 2010
Today's challenge is to make a card using a tag shape.
I used the tags on Chris Warner cds, layered them onto white card, then cut and scored to give a concertina style card.
I used smaller tags to add my wording. I used a Forever Friends stamp image and punched some flowers to decorate. I themed it as an anniversary card.
Let's see what you come up with this week. When you're done upload your design using the link below.

Blue Cuttlebug-- So upset!!
I am so upset that Create and Craft are selling the blue Cuttlebug as the Pick of the Day. My favourite colour is blue and would have loved to have bought the bundle. I have been watching since the launch last night and I have had to stop myself buying it as I have everything they are selling in the set but in GREEN (I hate green). I can't justify buying the blue cricut just because I hate green.............How we suffer for our craft.............I will just have to put up with my green set...............
My newest Cricut Cartridge - Freshly Picked
This is the latest addition to my Cricut cartridge library. This has fab cuts and I can't wait to use it. You can view the handbook here. Love the little gnomes. Won this on ebay. I think I will be looking for more shortly. There are so many new carts being released just now. I couldn't sleep the other night and needed an envelope for a card I had made as it didn't fit any regular off the shelf envelope. So at 1.20am I was resizing an envelope on my Design Studio and cutting it out. It fitted perfectly!! I will be using my cricut in future for odd sized envelopes. I used Plantin Schoolbook. I measured my card and made sure the card area was slightly bigger and that the full envelope fitted on an A4 sheet of thick paper (120gsm).
I took my gypsy on holiday with me and have designed lots of shaped easel cards so hope to get the time to make some of them soon.

Baby Girl Embossed card
I decided to try out my new Sizzix Texture Boutique I received today with a subscription to Card Making and Papercraft. I rubbed over the embossed image with a pink ink pad. The polka dot paper is from Forever Friends cd. The baby themed embossing folder is by Sizzix. I finished it off with a polka dot ribbon and a peel off greeting.
